Elected officials need to hear from library supporters. State funding to libraries across New York has been cut significantly, and St. Lawrence County funding was eliminated entirely in 2013. Click the image below to send a message to State Officials about what CFL means to you!

Make a Donation

Canton Free Library greatly values the financial support of donors. Donations to the Friends of the Library supplement the library’s budget, enabling us to provide additional resources and programs to the community.

Monetary Donations

Contributions by cash, check, or online may be made to Canton Free Library.  All donations are tax deductible, to the extent of the law.  Checks should be mailed to: Canton Free Library, 8 Park Street, Canton, NY 13617.

All monetary donations go directly to Canton Free Library to support programs and services at CFL and our branch libraries. If you prefer, you can designate that your donation be directed to the program of your choice.

To make an online donation using a credit card, debit card, or PayPal simply click the DONATE button below.

Book Donations

Canton Free Library reserves the right to refuse any book donations due to the condition and quantity of items and the available storage in our facility.

Please view our Item Donation Policy prior to bringing your items to the library. We will NOT accept damaged materials, textbooks, magazines, VHS/cassette tapes and nonfiction that is greater than 10 years old.

It is always advised to call the library in advance to determine space and/or need before packing and moving heavy boxes of materials.

CFL’s Adopt-A-Book (or DVD or music CD) program invites patrons to purchase an item for the library’s collection at the library’s discounted price (about 40% for books.) The purchaser then becomes the first person to read, listen to or view the new item before it’s put out for others to enjoy. This program is a way to help the library shorten the waiting lists for those best sellers that everyone wants to read.

The annual Periodicals Drive is an opportunity for businesses, families and individuals to sponsor one of the library’s magazines or newspapers that may be related to their line of work or just a personal favorite. Sponsors’ names appear on every issue of “their” magazines, and the contribution is tax deductible. Sponsorships allow us to offer one of the biggest and best magazine collections in the North Country.

All donations are tax deductible.

For more information contact Carole Berard at 315-386-3712 or cberard@ncls.org with item requests.

Make a difference in your community.

The Canton Free Library appreciates the volunteer efforts of the greater community in its libraries and at outreach programs to complement, not replace, work done by paid staff. Our volunteers represent a significant value of service to our local community. We encourage you to consider volunteering at the Canton Free Library.
