Make a difference in your community.

The Canton Free Library appreciates the volunteer efforts of the greater community in its libraries and at outreach programs to complement, not replace, work done by paid staff. Our volunteers represent a significant value of service to our local community. We encourage you to consider volunteering at the Canton Free Library.

PROCEDURES:
Those interested in volunteering for the library must complete a Canton Free Library Volunteer Application. The application can be obtained in person from the Circulation Desk on the main floor or printed from this website. Completed applications may be returned via email sent to  volunteeratcfl@gmail.com or in person. Once your application has been reviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator and the Director you will be contacted to schedule an interview at the library. The Director and Volunteer Coordinator will discuss volunteer opportunities and schedule you if a volunteer opportunity is available.

REQUIREMENTS:

All volunteers must complete the Canton Free Library Volunteer Application.

Applicants will be approved at the discretion of the Library Director based on the applicant’s qualifications in relation to the needs of the library at any given time.

Volunteers agree to follow all library policies and procedures and are expected to conduct themselves as if employed by the library; this includes conduct, performance, safety procedures, and appropriate attire.

GUIDELINES:

The library reserves the right to decline the services of any volunteer. If the library does not have projects or work that match a volunteer’s interests at the time of application, the applicant will be notified and the application will be kept on file for one year.

The library reserves the right to not accept every volunteer application.
