Don’t forget to check out our Novel Noir photo contest!  If you are looking for inspiration, here are some Noir novels that you can find with us or place on hold within our system:

  • Bury Me Deep by Megan Abbott.  Inspired by this notorious true crime, Edgar®-winning author Megan Abbott’s novel “Bury Me Deep” is the story of Marion Seeley, a young woman abandoned in Phoenix by her doctor husband, who meets — and falls hard for — the charming Joe Lanigan, a local rogue and politician on the rise, whose ties to Marion and her two friends bring events to a dangerous collision.
  • Infamous by Ace Atkins.  A seemingly straightforward kidnapping-for-ransom scheme by 1930s gangster “Machine Gun” Kelly is thrown into near-whimsical chaos by the greed of two partners, a determined former Texas Ranger, and Kelly’s two-faced wife.
  • The Big Bang by Mickey Spillane & Max Allan Collins.  With himself for a client, Hammer and his beautiful partner Velda, take on the narcotics racket in New York just as the streets have dried up and rumors run rampant of a massive heroin shipment due any day.
  • The Bohemian Girl by Kenneth Cameron.  When General Denton, the famous American author and expatriate in turn-of-the-century London, receives a letter from Mary Thomason saying she’s in danger and needs his help, his search for the woman leads him into the heart of Bohemian London–where he will learn the shocking truth about Mary and discover first-hand what it’s like to be the object of a lethal obsession. Sequel to The Frightened Man.
  • A Killer’s Essence by Dave Zeltserman.  Assigned to the most shocking case of his career, New York City Homicide Detective Stan Green is forced to hunt for a particularly violent killer, a case for which the only witness is a neurologically disabled and hallucination-prone recluse.
  • Empire State by Adam Christopher.  “It’s a parallel-universe, Prohibition-era world of mooks and shamuses that is the twisted magic mirror to our bustling Big Apple. It’s a city where sinister characters lurk around every corner while the great superheroes who once kept the streets safe have fallen into deadly rivalries and feuds. Not that its colourful residents know anything about the real New York … until detective Rad Bradley makes a discovery that will change the lives of all its inhabitants.
