Vacation was fantastic, though I didn’t make it through the stack of books I brought along. The reading plan was ambitious, but my vacation would have needed to be at least twice as long for me to complete what I set out to do.
However, returning with a (slightly reduced) stack of unread books by some favorite authors made for a lovely reentry to routine. It is always so nice to have a book with which to share the quiet spaces in everyday life.
While I was away we received boxes and boxes and boxes of NEW books! I have not yet made it through those stacks, either, though I am working fast and furiously to get them out on the shelves for YOUR vacation reading plan.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS:
The Canton Free Library’s Summer Library Program, which is themed “Tails and Tales,” is running through the month of July. There is no registration necessary for 2021. The following will be offered:
•Weekly Virtual Toddler Storytimes posted at 10:30am on Tuesdays in July and Preschool Storytimes posted at 10:30am on Wednesdays in July. They may be found on the library’s website under Summer Reading and on the library’s Facebook.
•Take & Make crafts for various ages are available to be picked up each week in July either in the children’s room or curbside. There are different offerings for age groups from Toddler up to 4th grade.
• A different Storywalk® each week at the Remington Recreational Trail (aka The Partridge Trail) The books will be switched out on Friday mornings!

MORLEY BRANCH is open for in-person service! Come see us (don’t forget your mask). Our new hours are: Tuesday 1pm-3pm; Wednesday 4pm-6pm; Thursday 10am-12pm. Limit is 4 patrons at a time, for 15 minutes inside the building. Masks and sign-in are required. There is a computer available for your use, but it’s a good idea to call first to check on availability. Scheduled appointments are encouraged, but not required. Call for more details: 315-379-0066.
Rensselaer Falls is looking for a Branch Assistant! Visit www.cantonfreelibrary.org/job for details. Applications must be received by July 11.

During the month of July, Rensselaer Falls Branch is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am-2pm for in-person service. Masks and sign-in required, and those who are under age 12 must be with an adult. Family groups should call to make an appointment. There is a computer available for your use, but please call first to check on availability.
Maximum of two (2) people inside at the same time. Call the library (315-344-4155) for additional information.
