The Power of a Caring Community
Sometimes a children’s book cuts right through the fluff and friction of the age and speaks to the heart. It was refreshing, in these divisive days, to read about a community that cares for the stranger – just as they care for each other!
This whimsical little picture book is a gift to the children of our community, and will be gifted to as many children in my own little network of friends and family as I can think of. You might like to check it out yourself!
The Sweater – written by Larissa Theule; illustrated by Teagan White. As Holly takes her morning stroll through the thicket, she comes across a small bird. It was plain to see he’d been through some things. The bird is alone and trying to find shelter for the winter. And Holly knows exactly what to do to help.
Illustrating the transformative role a community can play in caring for its members, The Sweater is a powerful and poignant tale of compassion and acceptance. ~ Publisher
