A Wish for a Friend
Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through

“May your home be too small to hold all your friends…” is a beautiful Irish saying. However, if your house is too small to hold all the books you’d wish for, consider the library an extension! Check out novels, non-fiction, and movies that have an Irish theme – you can find them right here, at CFL!
- The Princes of Ireland: The Dublin Saga by Edward Rutherfurd. A sweeping panorama steeped in the tragedy and glory that is Ireland, epitomizes the power and richness of Rutherford’s storytelling magic. The saga begins in tribal, pre-Christian Ireland during the reign of the fierce and mighty High kings at Tara, with the fate of two lovers, the princely Conall and the ravishing Deirdre, whose travails cleverly echo the ancient Celtic legend of Cuchulainn. Diarmit promises Richard wealth, lands, and Aoife’s hand in marriage in return for his aid, but Aoife, has her own thoughts on the matter. She may be a prize, but she is not a pawn and she will play the game to her own advantage. Publisher description.
- Celtic Empire by Clive Cussler, and Dirk Cussler. The murder of a team of U.N. scientists while investigating mysterious deaths in El Salvador; a deadly collision in the waterways off Detroit; an attack from tomb raiders on an archaeological site along the Nile — is there a link between these violent events? The answer may lie with the tale of an Egyptian princess forced to flee the armies of her father three thousand years ago. Only Dirk Pitt can unravel the secrets of an ancient enigma that could change the very future of mankind. Publisher.

- Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato: An Irish Folktale retold and illustrated by Tomie dePaola. The laziest man in all of Ireland catches a leprechaun, who offers a potato seed instead of a pot of gold for his freedom.
